Aura farming, a trend in which people film themselves looking calm and effortlessly confident, has spread widely on TikTok. It was started by Mehmet Taha K., a Germany-based entertainer who posts as tahalivestreams.

The clips are short and usually capture a single moment, such as someone walking into a room or turning towards the camera, set to music. Viewers then judge in the comments how much “aura”, internet slang for presence, was on display.

Many of Taha’s own videos are filmed in university lecture halls and on city streets.

Other creators have since posted their own versions of the format.
